Finally got the color fixed
I think Im gonna start working on ponies as the basic enemy of the Equestria stage, but Im having trouble thinking of their shooting patterns
so far:
Unicorns: double helix sine wave bullet streams(because they are magic?)
Earth Ponies: circular shockwaves of bullets (as if they are pounding the ground with their hooves (despite the fact that the ponies themselves will not be animated and there will probably be no stomping sound effect))
Pegusi: wtf should pegusi shoot?
Pegasi? I dunno. They can manipulate weather and clouds, so maybe a type of lightning or something? I dunno, you're the creative one, not me. Game's looking really good too, btw. Keep up the good work. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, sorry for double posting, but has this project of yours been featured on EqD? It seems like you do a lot of hard work on this game and hardly anyone knows about it. You should try sending it to Seth if you haven't already. I'm sure that would boost it's popularity a lot.
ReplyDeleteI'd say something like a lightning cloud, arc-laser, or arch blast waves for Pegasi. You know, like those weird bird-fish things in the first level of Darius Twin?
ReplyDeleteAnywho, just gave 1.5 a spin. I didn't realize the panels at the top of the screen were representative of difficulty modes rather than different mods of play, but I had a good time with it. Thanks for sharing the project. :3
Like the buffalo a lot.
ReplyDeletePegasi... maybe they could alternate between staying still and moving quickly, and shoot waves of aimed bullets with different speeds while they move? Trying to think of an enemy in Touhou that uses that pattern as an example... there are a lot, I just can't think of any. But say they move a bit and quickly shoot five or six sets of five medium-large bullets, each with a different speed so they fan out over time.
Either that, or something spiral-y?
That unicorn attack is the same as the large fairies from Subterranean Animism stage 1, right? Also a lot like Fluttershy's shot? I'm fine with that, would destroy you instantly if you got hit at the crossing points but also give you ridiculous graze.
If you're going to do that for earth ponies (seems good as anything), maybe try the effect that Imperishable Night uses a lot for "explosions" where the immediate area of the attack has so many bullets that it's an auto-hit, but most of the bullets are removed after a fraction of a second of traveling away so the screen doesn't fill up. Also, depending on diffulty, they could seek you out by moving towards you between attacks with different movement speeds/distance intervals? Just an idea.
Also, I'd kinda like to see how durable enemies are in these later levels... in the current versions Twilight, Rarity and Applejack (and to a lesser extent Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy) kill almost everything before it shoots if you memorize where it comes from (or even if you don't for Twilight). Since you can max magic within twenty seconds of starting the game it makes a lot of areas easier than they should be.
